AIDS Committee of North Bay & Area

Location: North Bay,
Ontario

The AIDS Committee of North Bay & Area (ACNBA for short), is a multi-purpose non-profit organization that assists individuals who are HIV or HCV positive or at-risk of contracting HIV/HCV. Our agency offers education on HIV, AIDS, HCV and harm reduction to prevent the spread of illness and to encourage those at-risk to get tested. Our agency offers free testing for HIV/HCV and can offer treatment for HCV or a referral for HIV treatment. ACNBA offers a needle exchange program in hopes to reduce the spread of HIV and HCV by encouraging clients to dispose of used equipment at our agency, and to not share equipment.

Clients can access harm reduction supplies such as safe inhalation, snorting, and injection kits, condoms, lubricant, and dental dams. These harm reduction supplies reduce the spread and risk of STI’s, HCV, and HIV. We offer naloxone training, naloxone kits, and many educational resources and support. ACNBA is a friendly and welcoming office for everyone; we encourage clients to use our lounge to escape the heat or cold weather and to get a snack and a drink. Our agency would love to be to able to offer more hygiene products to our clients. Hygiene products, especially feminine hygiene, are in high demand. A large amount of our clients do not have regular access to these products due to social and financial barriers.
